While teaching at Hastings Public Schools I became very sick. It became very difficult to work with preschoolers but with supportive staff I continued to search out answers to why I was so sick. It took nearly 4 years before it was determined that the doctors believed it was Celiac Disease and to go gluten free. I still continued to be sick but not as often. In May of 2015 through genetic testing it was Celiac Disease along with several other conditions. I am very open about my condition which is often called the "Invisible Disease". Looking at me you would not know that I am sick and it is my mission as a Patient Celiac Advocate to share my experiences with those around me. Please ask away and I would encourage you to leave questions here and I will try and answer them on July 16th. Oh yeah there will be a gluten free dessert and how this can tie into a Celiac Lesson for your classroom.
