Learning to read is one of the most important achievements for children.  However, for many students, reading is labor intensive, frustrating, and difficult.  This session will describe the characteristics of struggling readers and students verified with learning disabilities, including dyslexia.  A review of recent legislative bill 1052, will provide a definition and information in understanding dyslexia, assessment, misconceptions, and effective instruction. Through an MTSS framework, this presentation will demonstrate how schools can build an evidence-based instruction and intervention model where all students can succeed.  Resources on screening, progressing monitor, evidence-based interventions, and problem-solving will be shared.
